The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics ranks Medical Administrative Assistants as one of the fastest growing occupations with a projected employment growth of more than 36% between 2012 and 2022. This growth will be driven by rapid expansion of the healthcare and social assistance industries. An anticipated increase in the use of medical services by an aging population will require many additional medical administrative assistants. Job opportunities should be best for applicants with extensive knowledge of computer software applications. High Desert Medical College is listed on ITRAIN and CAL JOBS for our Medical Administrative Assisting program. HDMC is a partner with the South Bay Workforce Investment Board (SWIB) – an agency for the state of California that pays for training services to unemployed people seeking a new career field.
How does it work?
Go to your unemployment office and meet with a counselor looking for resources to train for a new career. High Desert Medical College is on listings called ITRAIN and CAL JOBS that give the unemployment counselors schools that SWIB finances the training. The counselor will give you a voucher which you bring to HDMC to attend. Both of our campuses are listed on this site – Bakersfield and Lancaster.
